The Moment We Recieved The Blessing Of Saying Abba Father

My twin baby girl and son 1994

 Abba Father

Romans 8:1-15

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  Romans 8:1-15

The very moment we receive Salvation, accept grace of the Most High God, through faith in His Perfect Sacrifice, the wonderful privilege of being a child of God happens.  We are able to call the Creator of the Universe, Father.  When do we use the term "Abba?" Well Beloved, in it's simplest English form it is an intimate word that basically means daddy.  We use it when we come into the intimacy of the relationship.  An intimate relationship it the requirement.  Look at the passage above.  When we are genuine with ourselves before God, and remove our flesh from the picture, and have our bare spirit before God, in Christ's grace, we say daddy.  Although I am not privy to the intimate prayers before God that Jesus made to Him, I rest assured Jesus used the Aramaic word Abba, for they had never been separated before the beginning of time.  There did come a moment in the past where our privilege of intimacy with the Creator, and using Abba came at a cost to Abba and Jesus Himself.  That was the price paid for our redemption and being called children of God.  That exact moment is recorded in Scripture.

"45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Matthew 27:45-46

At that moment, the sin of mankind before Christ and after we are long gone and future humanity walks the face of the Earth, barring the Rapture, was hammered, crushed, poured out onto the Son of God.  He could not say Abba Father, He could only cry out in darkness, desperation, and desolation so vast to Him Who had no sin, that it was no longer an intimate relationship.  The 3:00 p.m. sacrifice of the Temple, the 9th hour was the darkest moment in humanity, and God carried it upon Himself, just as He said to Abraham and Isaac, He would provide Himself a sacrifice.  Jesus Cried out, "My God, My God..." not Abba Father.  Sin had marred the intimacy.  Our sin.  Because of sin, intimacy with God is hindered, it is blocked, it is impossible, unless one has the unblemished Lamb of God as His substitute.  This was the moment in history that the door was opened, the Sheep Gate, as Christ promised.  Tomorrow as you worship on Father's Day, remember the price paid for the blessing of being able to say Abba Father.  Happy Father's Day, love in Christ, Jason.
