There Are Angels In His Presence
Isaiah 6:1-7
God and Jesus
6 "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged."
Now Beloved we have a picture of the throne room, before Christ came in human flesh and dwelt among men in the Visible Image of the Invisible God.
15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:" (Colossians 1) Notice what the angels are doing and not doing. They covered their face and their feet. They covered their face for the splendor and shekinah of God is so powerful, and He is Holy. Notice as they fly about the throne room all they are saying is, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts: the whole Earth is full of His glory." They are not sitting on white puffy clouds strumming harps and lyres. They don't look like cupid either. Did you notice the "Lord of Hosts"? Let's put that in modern English, and Western civilization vernacular. The Lord of Heaven's Armies. Yes Armies plural stand by awaiting the command of the Most High.
What is the significance of this? Let us look at when they are present with God, and man. Yes Beloved, man.
10 "And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first." (Genesis 28:10-19)
Bethel, also know in the English as "meeting house of God" for Jacob met the Lord here, and the Lord revealed Himself to Jacob and the foreshadowing of the Christ to come. Jesus the Christ the only gate into Heaven, we hear Jesus reaffirming this again, and fulfilling the statement made in the day of the Patriarchs many, many centuries upon centuries before He dwelt here among men.
"47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man." (John 1:47-51)
Did you notice the reference back to Jacob? Jesus speaks to Nathaniel, and He says An "Israelite" in whom is no guile! Jacob's name was changed to Israel by God. Both these times the reference of angels are used, and the ladder to the Gate of heaven is Jesus. Okay Beloved, what does that have to do with us. This is the cool fact and Truth of the Word of God, when, and only when we worship in Spirit and Truth, we in spirit are ushered before the very presence of Jesus, at the right Hand of God the Father, and not only are they worshiped, but there are angels observing and marveling that humanity doing what God originally intended. This is the whole crux of this post. We must worship in spirit and Truth for these are who God seeks.
"23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24)
When this occurs, He is on His throne. Where is His throne? It is in the throne room of God! Legions upon Legions, Armies of the Lord gathered in worship, ministering, obeying commands, and observing worship in Spirit and Truth of the Redeemed of Christ. Is Christ the focus of worship on the Lord's Day in your congregation? Is the Bible the center of the worship? Are the Songs Christ centered, the pro nouns and verbs attributed to Jesus? Or are they focused on us? Is the worship carnal? These are questions to ask yourself this Sunday. If you cannot answer yes to the first three questions, but yes to the last two questions, then you are NOT worshiping in Spirit and Truth, Christ isn't being respected on His throne, and you are not even in His presence. Worship isn't about what we get out of it, we do not worship corporately for ourselves, we corporately worship for Christ, for God. Not to be entertained!!! Are you in His presence on the Lord's Day? The angels are.
