The third gate that we need to repair and strengthen is the Old Gate. This gate is called the Corner Gate in (2 Chronicles 26:9) because it was near the corner. This speaks of Christ who is the Chief Corner Stone! It is only upon Him that we enter into the coming New Jerusalem, it is Christ that we enter into Heaven, because He is the Good Shepherd, and we His sheep must enter it to be saved! Once we enter the Sheep Gate, we become Fishers of men which correlated to the Fish Gate...now we come to the Old Gate the Cornerstone, the Solid Rock, the Foundation of our walk and life is Christ.
" Jeremiah 6:16a Thus says the LORD: "Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way [is], And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls...” (Jeremiah 6:16)
When masons are laying stones, the FIRST STONE they set is the cornerstone. It is critical in the structure and support of the building, just as Christ is the NECESSITY of our salvation and walk. Jeremiah wrote this prophetic verse before the captivity in Babylon and the destruction of Solomon's Temple. Judah had gotten away from the "old paths" that God had ordained and she fell into judgment. There is not a modern contemporary Gospel! It is the same that the Apostles preached, you know those guys like: Peter, James, John, Paul, Barnabas, Matthew, and Jesus!
"4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:" (1st Peter 4:1-3)
Christ is our Cornerstone, our Gate, our Foundation, our Way, our Path to walk in as Jeremiah spoke of. Beloved, I don't know where you are in your walk of the Way, but Jesus is the Cornerstone of our lives... or He has to be. For the gate is narrow that we must enter through , and few find it. The Gate is so Narrow ONLY CHRIST can enter it, therefore we must be in Christ to pass. Inspect the Old Gate of your life and walk, see to it you are still clinging to the old path through the Old Gate and sure up your foundation. These are evil and perverse days that we are in, do not forsake the Only Way and the Only Gate that must be the cornerstone of your life. Share with the Beloved this teaching please. Love in Christ Jason
