Darkness Cannot Exist With Light

God is Light

1 John 1: 4-7

"4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."  John 1:4-7

It is not only a spiritual law but a physical and scientific fact that light and darkness, have no compatibility, or ability for that matter, to be in the same time, place or being.  Think about this for a moment.  Darkness is immeasurable.  It has no degrees or system for determining its lack of intensity.  For we non physiscist people, or rocket scientist DARKNESS is the absence of light.  In the Greek lexicon used by John the word darkness is translated from the root word "Skotos"  its simple definition being this: "Complete absence of light, in the moral sense, as well as the figurative and literal sense.  It is the polar opposite of the Greek word " phṓs (a neuter noun) – properly, light (especially in terms of its results, what it manifests); in the NT, the manifestation of God's self-existent life; divine illumination to reveal and impart life, through Christ."

Compare the picture above with this one below.

Notice the complete blackness in this picture?  See how when the door is opened, the light beams in tremendously?  Have you ever been without electricity for more than a few minutes or hours?  Beloved I have.  There were times in the Marine Corps when we could have no lights at all, and it was called light discipline, so as not to give indication of position, to the enemy.  When Hurricane Katrina struck we were without power for three weeks, and when the sun set it was DARK.  Let us apply this to our natural state of BEING of our own flesh, heart, mind, and emotions.  Apart from the Light Himself, we are the complete absence of light.  We walk in the dark friend, and after Christ our flesh still gravitates to the dark.  Listen to Paul as he warns us of that issue and danger:

"14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
It is a danger we all face in our walks for and in Christ.  We must dwell in the light as He is the Light, then darkness is dispelled, it is dispersed, it was cast down at Golgotha, when Jesus faced the darkest scene in all of universal time, space and history.  Notice this passage:

"4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" John 1:4-12

Now discern and contrast this passage with the cross and the Father forsaking Jesus because of my darkness, your darkness, mankind's darkness:

 Luke 23:44-46
"44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
Darkness covered the Earth...the Earth Beloved.  Darkness from the Garden of Eden all the way to the Darkness that will be destroyed when Jesus' feet touch the Mount of Olives, upon the 2nd Advent of the King in all His Light and Glory.  Not only did Jesus bleed to death upon the cross to be a kosher sacrifice to please God, the darkness overwhelmed the Light of the World....for a three days, then the brightest day of humanity on that Spring day over two thousand years ago appeared as the Son arose with healing in His wings! Oh what a day that was, I experienced that light myself back in 1984, and will be overtaken by it completely when my King raptures me to glory!  Beloved, stay in the Light, remain in the light, cling to the vine, and dwell in the Spirit.  God's principle of separation of light has always been since the beginning:

We are to come out from the darkness, ESPECIALLY if we are in Christ!

"1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."  Genesis 1:1-5
